Sealers
A Sealer in Rosethia is an elite soldier and part of the Rosethian Army, easily recognised by the distinctive tattoos that they receive upon entry into the Sealer Academy. The Sealer Division is headed by a man named Sangriel Hunt, and it is his job to keep things running as smoothly as possible. The job of a Sealer is not just to be a fighter as such. There are many different branches of Sealer types. Some, such as Ikus Da Silva, are tutors to other potential Sealers. Some become spies, others take to a more medical field. While studying at the Academy, their growth is examined and chartered and their area of expertise is assigned to them upon graduation. So how does one become a Sealer and make his or her way in the world? Well, first, one has to go about joining the Sealer Academy. Some people, like Armada, were born into the military specifically for the purpose of becoming a Sealer, and thus, have places at the Academy already assigned to them when they come of age. This age is 13 years old. Some students are sent there because their families cannot cope with them, others come from prestigious backgrounds and could do with the extra glory. Others have been groomed from birth. Whatever the reason, anyone can apply to the Sealer Academy for a place, but like any good school, spots are limited. A series of rigorous tests are forced upon potential students and only the best make it through. Let me add now that Sealers are Sealers for life. Once accepted into the academy they must proceed until their eventual death. Rogue Sealers are hunted down and destroyed without mercy. The Sealer Academy coincidentally has a very high suicide rating. For the first year students learn the basics of hand-to-hand and weapon based combat to assess their strengths and weaknesses, while at the same time pursuing a regular curriculum made up of subjects such as mathematics and language. At the end of the year the pupils that remain take part in a prestigious ceremony in which they are tattooed and officially become Sealers. The tattoos are important, for they are created with special chemicals that seep into the bloodstream and allow the development of such skills. The students are allowed to create their own markings if they choose, or they can pick from a variety of pre-designed ones. The second year focuses on bringing out the individual talents which are the trademarks of their organisation. A Sealer's power is based upon personality traits, and are usually unique to that person. There is no specific way to develop a particular ability such as creating fireballs or lopping off limbs at will. The powers choose the student, not the other way around. When they arrive at the third year, pairs are placed with a tutor and they begin individual training. They remain with their tutor until their tutors recommend them, after which time they officially graduate and are assigned a division. However, there are also other Sealers from the neighbouring region of Taiz. Rosethia and Taiz have long been enemies, and all Taizen Sealers are Kill on Sight. Taizen Sealers tend to be far more rogueish and reckless than Rosethian Sealers, and are extreme threats. |
